Meet Kayla

Kayla’s Konfections was created in 2019 after a decade of scribbling down recipes on napkins, post-its, or anything I could get my hands on. Kayla’s Konfections is a home bakery dedicated to baking simple, from-scratch recipes inspired by my small town roots, big city living, and various travels. My love of baking is only outmatched by my love of cooking as a whole. Sweet or savory — the kitchen is my happy place.

I’m a wife, mom of two, and self-taught home baker. I have a soft spot for all things peanut butter, the color blue, pink peonies, snow days, baby smiles, and my energetic butt-scooting fluff ball (aka goldendoodle) named Wrigley. I love to bake, cook, write, and travel. When I’m not in the kitchen, or on my next adventure, you can find me consulting in our nation's capital.

I grew up in a small town where everybody knows everybody… and I mean everybody. Running tabs and the honor system are considered normal; “yinz” is a standard part of the vocabulary; black and gold runs through your veins; fresh cut fries are a staple on every salad; and Heinz is the only acceptable brand of ketchup. Have you guessed it yet? It’s Pittsburgh!

Well, a suburb of Pittsburgh, but it’s home all the same!
